Heavy lifting

The Canadian Centre for Aging and Brain Health Innovation (CC-ABHI) has an ambitious mandate – to help create a world in which people can age in the setting of their choice, maintaining their cognitive, emotional and physical well-being, and independence as long as possible. Understandably, this requires significant heavy lifting at the front end to ensure CC-ABHI has a solid foundation and corporate framework in place to aptly deliver on its mandate.  We have been diligent in our thinking about the strategy and implementation of the Centre and have sought input from a multitude of stakeholders and sector experts.

With the unprecedented amount of funding flowing to the Centre, we feel this is a prudent step and want to ensure we take the time to do what is necessary to get it right. To that end, we have engaged experts to help guide us on establishing an appropriate evaluation framework and metrics as well as the business and operational plans.  In parallel, we are finalizing accountability agreements with funding partners and have hired a small team to execute on the tactical activities.  We are aiming to fully launch CC-ABHI in early 2016.

In the background of our planning phase, we recognize the substantial pent-up demand in the marketplace for CC-ABHI and what it has to offer. For example, we have already entered into advanced discussions with a multinational partner to test and validate their seniors’ innovations.  Watch for more information in a forthcoming blog.
