Leap Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy

Leap is a program of the Centre for Aging + Brain Health Innovation (“CABHI”), which creates a community of older adults/their caregivers (“Leap members”, “you”, “your”, as applicable) to learn about, and provide feedback on aging-related topics and solutions that are being developed to make  aging better.  

We collect your personal information (which identifies you, either as is or when combined with other  information), to enable you to join the Leap community (“Leap”) and engage in our services. By signing  up to our newsletter and engaging in our services, you understand and agree to our collection, use and  disclosure of your personal information; and that you have read our Privacy Policy.

We have contracted with a third-party vendor, known as Airtable. Airtable operates a database management platform, and will be responsible for the collection and storage of your personal  information relating to the Leap program. For more information with respect to Airtable’s privacy  practices – including their practices with respect to the collection, use and disclosure of personal  information they collect and their use of cookies-please see Airtable’s Privacy Policy and their Cookie  Policy. Airtable’s servers are located in the United States and hosted using US-based Amazon Web  Services servers (US-East-1). You agree to your personal information being held outside Canada, where  privacy laws may offer a different level of protection. 

We also use a separate third party provider – Mailchimp – to store your first name, last name, and email  address. For information on Mailchimp’s privacy practices and their use of cookies please see their  Privacy Statement.  

Use: We use your personal information for the purposes identified above, and for promotional,  research and analytical purposes. 

You may unsubscribe from receiving the newsletters and emails. 

Disclosure: We do not sell, rent or otherwise disclose your personal information without your consent  for any purpose to external parties, except as required by law, including: 

  • To enforce our rights against you or in connection with a breach by you of this policy or the  Terms of Use 

  • To prevent, investigate or respond to suspected illegal or fraudulent activity or to protect the  safety, rights, or property of us, Leap members, or others 

  • When required by any law or other legal process (e.g. subpoena or court order) 

Security Safeguards 

We have adopted reasonable technical, physical and administrative security measures to safeguard your personal information from unauthorized access, collection, use, disclosure, copying, modification,  disposal or destruction, including controlling who has access to the Leap databases and requiring  password protections. 

If we believe that the security of your personal information has been compromised, we will notify you  using the email address you gave us and/or by posting a notice on our Website. Please let us know of any security concerns, by contacting privacy@cabhi.com.

Retaining Personal Information 

We retain the personal information you give us, until you unsubscribe from our emails and newsletter, in order to provide you with our services, or to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes and  enforce our agreements. 

Accuracy, Access and Correction 

We rely on you to make sure the personal information you give us is as accurate, complete and up-to date as necessary for the purposes for which we use it. You have the right to access your personal  information held by us or ask us to correct it. To do so, please contact us at privacy@cabhi.com.  

Changes to Our Privacy Policy 

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time and it will be effective once we post it to www.cabhi.com.
