Newfoundland & Labrador Supports SiftMed’s Development of AI-Powered Health Technology

On November 3, 2026, the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador announced that it is providing $877,196 through its Business Growth Program to SiftMed Inc., a St. John's-based company. The funding will support the development and commercialization of new artificial intelligence-powered technology.

SiftMed uses artificial intelligence to automate the review and analysis of medical records for clients in the legal and insurance sectors. Through an 18-month research and development project, the company will build new AI-powered reporting, case review and collaboration tools, along with a platform that connects organizations with qualified medical experts.

The project is expected to support SiftMed's growth and expansion into new markets and to create four new full-time technical positions in the province. The company has already commercialized AI-powered medical record review technology and has attracted significant private investment, which this project will build on.
