The Government of Canada has announced an additional $500 million over five years to expand the Regional Artificial Intelligence Initiative, bringing total federal funding for the program to $700 million. The investment aims to help Canadian businesses responsibly adopt and integrate AI while supporting Canadian AI companies in commercializing and scaling their solutions.
Delivered through Canada’s regional development agencies, the expanded initiative will focus on sectors with strong economic potential, including health and life sciences, energy and natural resources, transportation, agriculture, manufacturing, and robotics. It will also help AI companies gain customers, attract investment, and bring Canadian-made products and services to market.
The initiative is part of AI for All, Canada’s National Artificial Intelligence Strategy, which aims to strengthen Canadian AI capabilities, encourage responsible adoption, and support economic growth and competitiveness.
