The Government of Canada has announced nearly $14 million in funding for 63 Quebec organizations through the Regional Artificial Intelligence Initiative (RAII) to support the development, commercialization, and adoption of artificial intelligence solutions. The investment is intended to help businesses innovate more quickly, improve operational efficiency, and seize new growth opportunities in an increasingly competitive economy.
According to Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED), the funded projects are expected to help consolidate more than 1,700 jobs while strengthening regional economic vitality across Quebec. The initiative supports organizations that are either creating AI-driven technologies or integrating AI into their existing operations, enabling small and medium-sized enterprises to boost productivity and competitiveness.
The announcement aligns with the Government of Canada's new“AI for All” strategy, which aims to expand access to AI, encourage its responsible adoption, and reinforce Canada's position as a global leader in artificial intelligence. Officials highlighted AI's potential to transform industries, improve services, and create economic opportunities while ensuring the benefits of the technology are shared broadly across communities and businesses.
