Alzheimer's Association Launches National Initiative to Bring Advances in Brain Health and Dementia Care into Everyday Clinical Care

Industry News Dementia Care |

The Alzheimer’s Association has launched the Brain Health & Quality Care Initiative (BHQCI), a new national effort designed to help health care systems and clinicians integrate brain health promotion, early detection, diagnosis, and high-quality dementia care into everyday clinical practice. The initiative comes at a time of significant advances in Alzheimer’s research, including blood-based diagnostic tests and disease-modifying treatments, while recognizing that many people still face delays in assessment, diagnosis, and access to care.

Initially focused on primary care, where many individuals first raise concerns about memory and cognition, BHQCI will provide evidence-based guidance, implementation resources, professional education, and peer learning opportunities. The goal is to help clinicians more consistently support brain health, identify cognitive impairment earlier, and connect patients and families to appropriate diagnosis, treatment, care, and support services.

The initiative will also establish a national recognition program for organizations that successfully implement evidence-based approaches to brain health and dementia care. Over time, the Alzheimer’s Association plans to expand the program beyond primary care to support a more connected and coordinated approach to dementia care across the entire patient journey. Founding partners include Eisai and Eli Lilly and Company.

Learn how the Brain Health & Quality Care Initiative aims to translate scientific advances into real-world improvements in dementia care.
