Cogni: Early Dementia Detection Meets “Phoning It In”

What started as an early concept at Velocity’s AgeTech Innovation Challenge, a CABHI-sponsored event out of the University of Waterloo, has since developed into a novel agetech solution gaining national traction and international attention. Calista by Cogni is a conversational AI companion that engages older persons with calls and games to monitor cognitive health through speech and task analysis.

CABHI gave us something we couldn’t get anywhere else: direct access to the older adults we’re building for. Between the curated education, resources, and the legitimacy that comes with being part of CABHI’s ecosystem, NextGen rounded us out in ways we wouldn’t have found on our own. We came in as engineers with a product and left with real direction.
