The Government of Canada has announced an investment of more than $289 million to support 1,788 social sciences and humanities research projects and partnerships across the country. Administered through the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC), the funding will support research on topics including climate change adaptation, economic recovery, social justice, and the societal impacts of emerging technologies.
The funding is being distributed through four SSHRC programs: Insight Grants, Insight Development Grants, Partnership Grants, and Partnership Development Grants. Together, these investments will support both emerging and established researchers, foster collaboration between post-secondary institutions and public, private, and non-profit organizations, and advance knowledge mobilization across Canada.
By strengthening research partnerships and supporting innovative scholarship, the investment aims to generate evidence-based solutions to complex social and economic challenges. The Government of Canada says these projects will help inform policy, drive innovation, and improve the well-being of communities across the country.
