Brain Canada and the Centre for Aging + Brain Health Innovation (CABHI), powered by Baycrest, have partnered to launch a new funding opportunity aimed at accelerating the translation of brain and mental health research into practical solutions for older Canadians. Together, the organizations have committed $300,000 to support up to four projects through the 2026 Knowledge Mobilization Grants: Mental Health of Older Persons program.
The one-year grants will fund initiatives that develop new knowledge mobilization resources, expand the reach of evidence-based tools, or implement research findings in real-world settings. The goal is to help ensure that proven research on mental health, brain health, and dementia prevention reaches older persons, care partners, healthcare providers, and communities more quickly and effectively.
The initiative comes at a critical time as Canada's population continues to age and dementia rates are projected to rise significantly in the coming decades. By supporting the practical application of research, Brain Canada and CABHI aim to improve mental health and well-being, strengthen support systems for older persons and caregivers, and help translate evidence into meaningful real-world impact.
