Coverage and payment policy is paramount in healthcare. How public and private insurers cover digital health tools, along with the clinician time and input costs associated with using them, will determine whether a healthcare system thrives or fails. For digital health to successfully reduce costs and improve care quality, patients must also be able to access their own data. Yet legacy barriers explicitly prohibited by federal legislation continue to persist. Without the portability and interoperability of health records, the benefits of digital health remain out of reach for patients and providers alike. Connected Health Initiative (CHI) brings together a uniquely diverse set of stakeholders — including innovators, providers, patient advocates, and policy experts — to address these critical barriers and propose actionable solutions that drive the adoption of connected health technologies.
