CABHI Science Collaborative Spotlight: Jiangning Fu, PhD
The first-ever CABHI Science Collaborative (CSC) Fellowship showcase is just a couple of weeks away, so we are spotlighting some of the incredible work coming from our inaugural cohort of fellows.
What is the CSC Fellowship?
The CSC Fellowship is a component of the Science Collaborative, which offers free opportunities for scientists, researchers, and trainees (graduate students and postdoctoral fellows) to build new skills in innovation. Through the initiative, participants build the capacity to confidently engage with stakeholders outside of academia—such as industry partners—and turn bold ideas into real-world impact.
Fellowship awardees receive $15,000 CAD in total support, including a $5,000 salary offset and $10,000 in project funding, to develop and deliver their project within six months. Beyond funding, Fellows gain access to a knowledge mobilization course, monthly learning series, CABHI’s acceleration services, and showcase opportunities.

Jiangning Fu, PhD
CSC Fellow
Jiangning Fu, PhD, is among the inaugural cohort of CSC Fellows. With a PhD in Aging Psychology from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Jiangning has dedicated more than a decade to advancing the psychological well-being of older persons. Her research focuses on understanding the factors that contribute to healthy aging and improving quality of life in later years. By bridging psychological research with innovative technological solutions, her work aims to enhance independence, well-being, and everyday life for the aging population.
We chatted with Jiangning Fu to learn about her experience as a CSC Fellow and how it has since impacted her work.
CABHI: Can you describe your CABHI-supported project?
Jiangning: My fellowship project focuses on developing and evaluating a gamified mobile training toolkit to support dementia care teams in applying person-centred care in everyday practice. This work is meaningful because frontline caregivers often understand the principles of person-centred care, but need practical, engaging, and accessible tools to translate them into real-world dementia care.
The CABHI Science Collaborative Fellowship has provided an important opportunity to move this early-stage work forward. The fellowship support has helped me strengthen the foundation of the project and further explore how digital, scenario-based training can support caregiver confidence, reduce burden, and improve care quality for people living with dementia.

CABHI: So, what's next for you post-CSC Fellowship?
Jiangning: I hope to continue developing and testing the toolkit with care teams, with the goal of making person-centred dementia care more practical, scalable, and sustainable.
