Last month, the CABHI team sponsored and participated in the OBIO Investment Summit—Canada’s premier health science investment summit. The multi-day gathering brought together innovators, investors, and ecosystem leaders shaping the future of health technology in Canada.
From reconnecting with CABHI-supported companies to building new relationships across the sector, the summit reaffirmed a central theme: strong, collaborative networks are essential to accelerating adoption and commercialization in healthtech innovation. Events like this don’t just showcase ideas but rather help move them forward.
A key summit highlight was the formal announcement of our partnership with OBIO through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). Building on years of collaboration and shared support of Canadian companies, this agreement marks an important step toward aligning resources and amplifying impact across the innovation ecosystem.
With 20 matched-funded companies already, this partnership will expand access to coordinated programming, capital, and expertise, helping fast-track the growth and commercialization of homegrown solutions.
As Maura Campbell, President & CEO of OBIO, noted, formalizing the partnership is a natural next step that “injects fresh momentum into a rapidly growing sector” and opens doors to new opportunities for Canadian innovators.
Beyond the announcement, CABHI team members were actively engaged throughout the summit. Mel Barsky, Director of Business Development, presented at the Early Technology Showcase, while Jesse Mastrangelo, Senior Program Manager, moderated a commercial sales panel featuring leaders from across the sector, sharing real-world insights on navigating adoption and scaling. The event also featured a vibrant CABHI-sponsored networking reception, kicked off by Jon Suckling, Director of Programs & Strategy, bringing together voices from across the ecosystem.
As momentum builds from the summit, the focus now turns to what comes next: deepening partnerships, supporting innovators, and continuing to strengthen a thriving, self-sustaining Canadian innovation landscape.
