Spark applications are in!

On October 28th the application window for CABHI’s Spark program closed and we are pleased to share that the response to our first funding program was an overwhelming success!  After receiving 111 submissions for the Expression of Interest, which were due in early October, we received 79 full Spark application forms before last week’s submission deadline.

The Spark Program was designed to support innovations that come from point of care workers in the healthcare field, and that is exactly where the applications were coming from: allied health professionals, nurses, researchers, and educators.  We are going to be reviewing some great innovations from healthcare professionals who are at the bedside of healthcare delivery – meaning the project submissions will reflect the real-time challenges healthcare workers encounter every day.

As well, we were pleased to see that applications to Spark came from both Canada and the United States, with applications submitted from coast to coast in Canada!  In the USA applications arrived from many states including New York, Wisconsin, and Massachusetts.  The Spark program is truly a North American innovation initiative!

The next step for the team at CABHI is to review all of the applications and determine which ideas and innovations will receive up to $50,000 in project funding.  Stay tuned to our website where we’ll be announcing the first round of project funding recipients on December 1st!

Thank you to all that applied and good luck!
